Copper remains weak on lower global trend

Copper prices continued to slide for the second straight day by losing Rs 2 per kg on the local non-ferrous metal market today on sustained selling by stockists amid weakening global trend.

Selling picked up as copper fell to a three-week low in London on concern that the US economy is struggling to recover, eroding demand for raw materials.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months fell by 1.7 per cent to $8,200 metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were remained under selling pressure and shed Rs 2 each to Rs 430, Rs 449 and Rs 410 per kg, respectively.
