Copper traded higher by 0.32% to Rs 408.90 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators created fresh positions on firming global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the february contract for copper traded higher by Rs 1.30, or 0.32%, to Rs 409.90 per kg in business turnover of 4,011 lots.
The April contract edged higher by Rs 1.15, or 0.28%, to Rs 415.75 per kg in 640 lots.
Analysts said fresh buying by speculators in tandem with a firming global trend amid hopes that a new Greek bailout package will finally be approved, supported the upside in copper prices at futures trade here.
Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery advanced 1.6% to $8,364.75 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange in early trade today.
