Copper prices rose by Rs 2.95 to Rs 424.60 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions on the back of a firming global trend.
At the Multi-Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April rose by Rs 2.95, or 0.70% to Rs 426.60 per kg in business turnover of 243 lots.
The February contract moved up by Rs 2.90, or 0.69% to Rs 420.50 per kg in 2693 lots.
Analysts said increased buying by speculators in tandem with firming global trend led to rise in copper futures.
In addition, increased demand from domestic consuming industries also boosted sentiments, they said.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months advanced 0.8% to $8,485 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
