Copper rises on higher global trend

Copper prices gained Rs 2 per kg in the local non-ferrous metal market today on pick up in industrial demand, amid firming trend at the London Metal Exchange.

Sentiment remained firm after copper climbed to nearing an all-time high in London, on speculation that further signs of improvement in the US economy will boost the outlook for demand of the metal.    

Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery advanced 2.1 per cent to $9,257.50 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange, $10 less than the record, which was set on December 14. 

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 464, Rs 488 and Rs 449 per kg.
