Copper prices lost 0.90% to Rs 412.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced their positions amid a weak trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, August copper declined by Rs 3.75, or 0.90%, to Rs 412.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 7,724 lots.

November delivery shed Rs 3.70, or 0.88%, to Rs 416.20 per kg, with a trade turnover of 1,344 lots.

Market analysts said besides a weak trend in global markets, subdued demand in the spot market led to the decline in copper futures prices.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery fell by 0.8% to $8,953.75 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
