Copra prices declined at the spices market here today due to subdued demand from stockists and traders as well as lower upcountry enquiries.

Meanwhile, both the ginger varieties firmed up on increased retail offtake amid good overseas demand.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai and copra edible Mumbai dropped by Rs 100 per quintal each to Rs 8,400 and Rs 7,900, respectively from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 8,500 and Rs 8,000.

Copra office Alapuzha also fell by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 7,000 as compared to Rs 7,050 previously.

However, ginger bleached and unbleached gained by Rs 5 per kg each to Rs 165 and Rs 195 respectively, as against Rs 160 and Rs 190 yesterday.

Rest of the spices closed stabled in the absence of necessary buying support.
