Copra drops on subdued demand, good supply

Copra prices dropped in the spices market here today owing to reduced offtake from stockists and retailers amidst comfortable stock positions.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai fell by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 8,900 from its overnight closing level of Rs 9,000. 

Copra office Alapuzha, copra office Kozhikode and copra edible Mumbai, all moved down by Rs 50 per quintal each to Rs 7,000, Rs 6,900 and Rs 7,900 respectively, as compared to Rs 7,050, Rs 6,950 and Rs 7,950 yesterday. 

While, black pepper, ginger bleached and unbleached continued to rule steady in the absence of necessary buying support.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs with the previous rates in brackets: 

Black pepper (per kg) 303/323 (303/323), ginger bleached (per kg) 175 (175), ginger unbleached (per kg) 205 (205), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 7,000 (7,050)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,900 (6,950), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 8,900 (9,000) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,900 (7,950)
