Copra Rajapur and copra edible prices shot up at the spices market here today on the back of hectic buying from stockists and bulk consumers coupled with strong export demand.

Elsewhere, copra Alapuzha and copra Kozhikode also firmed up owing to good retail as well as millers offtake.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai surged by Rs 500 per quintal to Rs 9,000 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 8,500 and copra edible Mumbai rose by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 8,200 as compared to Rs 8,000 in the previous session.

Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode also gained Rs 50 per quintal each to Rs 6,900 and Rs 6,800 respectively, as against Rs 6,850 and Rs 6,750 yesterday.

Meanwhile, other spices closed steady in the absence of necessary buying support.
