Copra prices surge on robust demand

Copra Rajapur and copra edible prices rallied at the spices market here today on the back of renewed buying by stockists, coupled with strong demand from domestic as well as export market.

Copra Kozhikode moved up further owing to brisk retail buying.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai jumped by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 8,200 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 7,900 and copra edible Mumbai rose by Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 7,750 as compared to Rs 7,600 yesterday.

Copra office Kozhikode also gained by Rs 25 per quintal to Rs 6,250 from Rs 6,225 yesterday.

Other spices closed steady in the absence of any worthwhile buying activity.

Black pepper (per kg) 235/249 (235/249), ginger bleached (per kg) 220 (220), ginger unbleached (per kg) 240 (240), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,450 (6,450)
