Copra rules firm on increased demand

In a fairly active trade, Copra prices moved up at the spices market here today due to increased demand from consumers and retailers on the back of restricted arrivals.

Meanwhile, black pepper and ginger maintained a stable trend due to lack of any worthwhile buying.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai rose by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 5,250 from yesterday's closing level of Rs 5,200.

Copra edible Mumbai, Copra office Alapuzha and Copra office Kozhikode all gained by Rs 25 per quintal each to Rs 4,275, RS 3,675 and Rs 3,550 respectively.

Following are today's closing rates in rupees with previous rates in brackets:

Black Pepper (per kilo) 190/205 (190/205), ginger bleached (per kilo) 225 (225), ginger unbleached (per kilo) 245 (245), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 3,675 (3,650), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 3,550 (3,525)

copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 5,250 (5,200) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 4,275 (4,250)
