Copra spurts on heavy demand

Copra prices rose sharply at the spices market here today due to brisk buying by stockists amid rising demand from millers as well as exporters.

Copra office Kozhikode shot up by Rs 150 per quintal to Rs 5,750 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 5,600.

Copra office Alapuzha and copra Rajapur Mumbai both rallied by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 5,900 and Rs 9,200, respectively, as compared to Rs 5,800 and Rs 9,100 previously.  

Copra edible Mumbai also gained by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 7,600 from Rs 7,550 last weekend. Meanwhile, black pepper, ginger bleached and unbleached closed stable in the absence of necessary buying activity.
