Cottonseed oilcake prices spurted Rs 34 to Rs 1,627 per quintal in futures trade today, largely on the back of a strong demand in physical markets.

Marketmen attributed the rise in cottonseed oilcake prices at futures trade to rising demand, mostly from cattle-feed makers amid tight stock position.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, cottonseed oilcake for delivery in December hardened by Rs 34, or 2.13 per cent, to Rs 1,627 per quintal in an open interest of 54,440 lots.

The January 2016 contracts rose Rs 30, or 1.86 per cent, to Rs 1,641 per quintal, having an open interest of 26,990 lots.
