Crude oil prices fell by 0.63% to Rs 3,937 per barrel in futures trade today as speculators booked profits, even as the rates rose in Asian trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in October fell by Rs 26, or 0.65%, to Rs 3,967 per barrel, with a trading volume of 191 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in September lost Rs 25, or 0.63%, to Rs 3,737 per barrel, with a turnover of 2,589 lots.

Market analysts said profit-booking by speculators weighed on crude oil prices in futures trade here, but a higher trend in Asian trade due to uncertainty over supplies from Libya, restricted the losses.

Meanwhile, New York's main contract crude for October delivery rose 14 cents to $85.30 a barrel in the Asian region today.
