Crude oil for January shed Rs 7, or 0.14%, to Rs 5,116 per barrel in 7,138 lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange today.
The February contract went down by a similar margin to Rs 5,159 per barrel in 847 lots.
Marketmen said weak energy demand in Asia, concerns over more fiscal battles in Washington tempering news of a modest growth in the US jobs market influenced the crude oil futures tarde.
Meanwhile, the February contract was down 2 cents to $ 93.07 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
