Amid a weak trend overseas, crude oil futures declined by 0.58% to Rs 4,811 per barrel today as participants reduced their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the December contract for crude oil shed Rs 28, or 0.58%, to Rs 4,811 per barrel, with a business volume of 5,632 lots.
The January contract moved down by Rs 26, or 0.53%, to Rs 4,862 per barrel, with a turnover of 619 lots.
Marketmen said the fall in crude oil futures prices was in line with a weakening trend in Asia as investors took profit from a rise in New York.
Meanwhile, crude oil for delivery in January was down 31 cents to $87.76 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
