Crude oil prices fell by Rs 45 to Rs 5,255 per barrel in futures trade today on speculators selling, driven by a weakening global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for October delivery contract fell by Rs 45, or 0.85% to Rs 5,255 per barrel, with a business turnover of two lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in May shed Rs 4, or 0.08% to Rs 5,009 per barrel, with a business volume of 13 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in crude oil futures prices to a weakening global trend. Meanwhile, crude oil fell 45 cents to $112.41 per barrel in New York.
