Crude oil prices rose by Rs 10, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 3,547 per barrel in futures trading today, as speculators enlarged their positions on the back of firming global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, crude oil for August rose Rs 10, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 3,547 per barrel, with an open interest of 39,557 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in September gained Rs 7, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 3,587 per barrel, with an open interest of 12,306 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators amid firming global trend mainly pushed up the crude oil prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, crude oil for September delivery climbed 39 cents to $75.78 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
