Crude oil prices slipped by Rs 100 to Rs 4,604 per barrel in futures trade today due to heavy off-loading by speculators on the back of weakening global trend.
Trading sentiments turned bearish as crude oil prices declined in global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in May slipped by Rs 100, or 2.13 per cent, to Rs 4,604 per barrel, with a business volume of two lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in March contract fell by Rs 94, or 2.07 per cent, to Rs 4,458 per barrel, with an open interest of 15 lots.
Market analysts said speculators off-loading on the back of weakening global trend mainly pulled down crude oil futures prices.
Meanwhile, New York's main contract, crude for April delivery dipped 40 cents to $96.88 per barrel.
