Crude oil prices slid marginally by Rs 3 to Rs 3500 per barrel in futures trading today as traders reduced their positions on the back of weakening global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange,crude oil for October month contract lost Rs 3, or 0.09 per cent to Rs 3500 per barrel with an open interest of 132 lots. Similarly, the oil for delivery in July contract traded lower by Rs 1, or 0.03 per cent to Rs 3376 per barrel in 41218 lots.
Market analysts said fresh selling by traders in tandem with a weakening global trend led crude oil prices to trade lower at futures trade. New York's main contract, crude for delivery in August, shed 80 cents to $71.34 a barrel.
