Crude oil prices rose by Rs 24 to Rs 4,558 per barrel in futures trade today, tracking a firming trend in the overseas markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in June rose by Rs 24, or 0.53% to Rs 4,558 per barrel, with a business turnover of 7,676 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in July edged up by Rs 23, or 0.50% to Rs 4,610 per barrel, with a business volume of 314 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in crude oil futures prices to a firming global trend as a weakened dollar spurred investor interest in dollar-priced commodities including crude.

Meanwhile, crude for July delivery rose by 86 cents to $101.45 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
