Crude oil futures prices moved up by Rs 63 to Rs 3,508 per barrel today as traders indulged in creating fresh positions influenced by a firming global trend.
Trading sentiment turned better as oil prices rebounded to near $77 a barrel in Asia after Europe and the IMF pledged nearly $1 trillion to help to defend the embattled Euro.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, crude oil for May contract rose by Rs 63, or 1.83 per cent, to Rs 3,508 per barrel with an open interest of 26,284 lots.
The oil for delivery in June also moved up by Rs 62, or 1.82 per cent, to Rs 3,663 per barrel in 5,055 lots.
Meanwhile, crude oil for June delivery was up $1.74 to $76.85 a barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange.
