Crude oil prices rose by Rs 22 to Rs 4,285 per barrel in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions in tandem with a firming global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for July delivery rose by Rs 22, or 0.52%, to Rs 4,285 per barrel, with a business turnover of 10,522 lots.
Similarly, the oil for August delivery moved up by Rs 22, or 0.51%, to Rs 4,324 per barrel, with an open interest of 6,905 lots.
Market analysts said besides a firming trend in global market, fresh buying by speculators mainly led to the rise in crude oil futures prices.
Meanwhile, crude for August delivery gained 45 cents to $96.38 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
