The agriculture ministry has approached the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) for inclusion of pulses in the the list of 300 sensitive items whose imports are monitored by the government after phasing out of quantitative restrictions.
DGFT has, however, not yet taken a final decision. It has asked the ministry to come back with a proper explanation on why pulses should be included on the sensitive items list, a senior DGFT official told Business Standard.
