Shares of diesel-fueled locomotive manufacturers and carmakers are trading lower in today’s trade following the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order stating that no new diesel vehicles will be registered in Delhi. Further, it also prohibited the centre and state government to purchase any diesel vehicles for their departments.

Among individual names, Tata Motors is down 3% at Rs 378, M&M is down 2% at 1,263, Maruti Suzuki has lost 1% to trade at 4,464, Eicher Motors is down 3% at Rs 15,554 and Ashok Leyland has shed 4% to Rs 86 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

This move comes in the wake of cutting down the pollution level in the national capital Delhi. The Delhi government has announced that from Jan1, 2016, odd and even numbered cars will be allowed on alternate days. The system will be tested for 15 days, the government added.
