The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 54 points at 12,164. A fresh round of selling in the late morning deals saw the index slide to a low of 11,618 - down 600 points from the previous close.The index is now down 489 points at 11,729.Hindalco has plunged over 8% to Rs 200. Tata Steel has tumbled 6% to Rs 576.ACC has crashed over 6% to Rs 852. Gujarat Ambuja has dropped 5.7% to Rs 103, and Grasim has tumbled over 5% to Rs 2,060.Tata Motors and Maruti has declined 6% each to Rs 904 and Rs 857, respectively. SBI, Larsen & Toubro and ONGC have shed 5% each to Rs 940, Rs 2,569 and Rs 1,374, respectively.There is not a single gainer among the Sensex stocks.Out of 2,342 stocks traded so far, 1,989 have declined, 328 have advanced and 25 are unchanged.Vard Holdings has soared over 9.5% to Rs 545. Dewan Housing, JBF Industries, Assam Company, Adani Exports, Gruh Finance, Kovia Medi, State Bank of Mysore, Shanti Gears and SRF are the other major gainers.Mahindra Gesco has plunged 15% to Rs 1,096. Mascon Global, GTN Industries, Crew BOS, Kesoram Industries, Sterlite, DCW, Aksh Optifibre, India Cements, SAIL, Ashok Leyland, Shah Alloy, Elder Pharma, MTNL, Crompton Greaves, IndusInd Bank, Century Textiles and Jindal Stainless were the other major losers.
