Domestic investors keep faith in equities
Business Standard Though 2015 has been tepid in terms of returns, domestic investors have continued to keep their faith in equity mutual fund (MF) schemes. An average of Rs 7,900 crore a month has got invested into various equity-oriented schemes so far this year, as the Sensex has corrected seven per cent during this period. The total inflow this year is about Rs 87,000 crore, 75 per cent more than last year. Around Rs 6,350 crore was invested in equity schemes in November, a 19th consecutive month of positive flows. The robust inflows have given domestic fund managers the firepower to invest in stocks. MFs have invested a record Rs 68,000 crore into equities this year, which has acted as a counterbalance to dwindling foreign flows. Foreign investors' 2015 investment tally stands at less than Rs 18,000 crore.
