US stocks surged on Friday as increasing oil prices pushed the energy shares higher and fresh economic data suggested that the key parts of the economy could be stabilizing.
The Dow Jones industrial average gained 44 points to 8,212 . The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose five points, to 876 . The Nasdaq Composite Index edged up two points, to 1,719.
The Indian ADRs ended on a mixed note. Tata Motors declined 3.5% to $ 7.44. Satyam plunged over 1.5% to $ 1.77 and Patni slipped 1% to $ 7.73. Infosys, MTNL and ICICI Bank dropped around 0.5% each to $ 30.7, $ 2.94 and $20.55, respectively.
On the other hand, HDFC Bank and Wipro added 1% each to $ 74.94 and $ 9.47, respectively. Dr.Reddy's and Tata Communications advanced to $11 and $23.07, respectively.
