US stocks increased on Wednesday after a private sector data on the labour market showed that unemployment may be receding and the leaked bank stress test results suggested most banks are healthier than previously thought.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 102 points (1%) to 8,512. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index climbed 16 points (2%) to 919. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 5 points to 1,759.
The Indian ADRs ended in mixed. Patni plunged around 10.5% to $7.23. ICICI Bank dropped over 5.5% to $22.46. Infosys shed 3% to $31.43. Tata Communicaions and Wipro declined over 2.5% to $23.33 and $10.6, respectively. Tata Motors was down over 1.5% to $7.69.
Satyam surged 9.5% to $1.95 and Sterlite advanced 5% to $9.68. MTNL was up 2.5% to $2.87 and Genpact increased around 2% to $10.69.
