The Wall Street ended deep in red led by heavy selling in banking stocks following lack of clarity in the bank bailout plan. The Dow Jones industrial average index plunged 4.6% (382 points) to 7,889. The Nasdaq tumbled 4.2% (67 points) to 1,525.

The Indian ADRs, too, ended with steep cuts. Satyam slumped over 12% to $1.54. Infosys and HDFC Bank cracked 7.5% each to $27.11 and $58.23, respectively. Genpact, Sterlite, Wipro, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, Dr.Reddy's and Tata Communications shed 3-6% each.

However, MTNL surged over 4% to $2.95, and Wipro rallied over 3% to $6.77.
