The US markets closed deeply in the red due to a rise in initial jobless claims by 8,000 last week and credit default concerns in Greece, Portugal and Spain. The Dow Jones ended at 10002, weaker by 268 points or 2.6%, Nasdaq closed at 2125, lower by 65 points or 2.9% and S&P ended at 1063, down 34 points or 3.1%.
The Indian ADRs ended weak. Infosys ended at $50, weaker by $2.5 or 4.72% and Wipro closed at $19, lower by $1.1 or 5.3%.
Tata Motors weakened by $1.3 or 8.4% at $14.4, Sterlite lost $1.1 or 6.8% at $15.6 and ICICI Bank gave up $2.2 or 6% at $34.7.
