Select edible oil prices rose by Rs 50 per quintal on continued buying by vanaspati millers to meet the rising seasonal demand. Trading sentiment remained firm, as palm oil traded near the highest level in 26 months in Malaysia.

Palm oil futures for the December-delivery contract rose 0.9 per cent to USD 944 a metric tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange, the highest level since August 1, 2008.

Pick up in local demand in view of ongoing festive and marriage season further boosted the sentiment, traders said.

In the national capital, mustard expeller oil (Dadri) remained in local demand and added Rs 20 to Rs 5,420 per quintal. Cottonseed mill delivery (Haryana) inched up by Rs 10 to Rs 4,580 per quintal.

Soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Delhi) oils strengthened further by Rs 50 and Rs 20 to Rs 5,250 and Rs 4,870, while crude palm oil (ex-kandla) and palmolein (rbd) gained Rs 10 and Rs 20 to Rs 4,290 and Rs 5,120 per quintal.
