Edible oils strengthen on millers buying

Select edible oil prices strengthened by up to Rs 30 per quintal in the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today mostly on the back of increased buying by vanaspati millers. 

Traders said apart from increased demand from millers, firming trend in palm oil, which advanced to a three-week high in global markets, on signs that China may sustain a strong pace of economic growth this year. 

Meanwhile, palm oil for the September-delivery climbed 1.9% to $1,044 a tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange, the highest price for a most-active contract since June 24.

In the national capital, soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils advanced by Rs 30 and Rs 20 to Rs 6,300 and Rs 5,860 per quintal, respectively. 

Palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (kandla) oils also added another Rs 20 each to Rs 5,820 and Rs 5,520 per quintal, respectively.
