Prices of groundnut oil and refined palmolein weakened further in an otherwise thin oils and oilseeds market here today due to poor demand from retailers and adequate supplies.

Meanwhile, castorseeds bold, castor oil commercial and linseed oil held steady on lack of worthwhile buying activity.

On the other hand, castorseeds futures surged owing to heavy speculative trading amidst strong export demand.

In the edible oil section, groundnut oil fell by Rs 5 per 10 kg to Rs 760 from overnight closing level of Rs 765 and refined palmolein eased by Rs 2 per 10 kg to Rs 586 from Rs 588.

Turning to futures section, castorseeds for March delivery opened sharply higher at Rs 4,310 and shot up further to a high of Rs 4,403 before closing at Rs 4,395 from yesterday's closing level of Rs 4,261, showing a massive gain of Rs 134 per tonne.

However, castorseeds bold, castoroil commercial and linseedoil closed unaltered at Rs 5,300, Rs 1,090 and Rs 710 respectively.
