Volumes in the derivatives segment were fairly modest with the turnover on the NSE's futures and options segment at Rs 12,633 crore and slightly over three lakh contracts being traded. Turnover in stock futures was at Rs 8,677 crore while turnover in index futures was at Rs 2,533 crore. |
The cumulative positions of foreign institutional investors as a percentage of the total gross market position in the derivative segment as on March 7, 2005, was 27 per cent. This figure has dipped slightly compared with just over a week back which it was close to 34 per cent. |

The outstanding open interest in the market was close to 45 crore shares while in the case of stock futures it was around 32.50 crore shares. |

In the futures segment, the most active contracts were those of Satyam, Infosys, Reliance, Andhra Bank and Bank of India among others. |

Futures of Infosys and Wipro also saw substantial addition to their open interest. Other futures which saw additions in open interest were those of Andhra Bank, Bank of India, PNB, and OBC among others. However, futures of Nalco, NTPC and Tata Steel saw their open interest going down. |

Meanwhile, on Monday FIIs were net buyers to the tune of Rs 231 crore in the derivatives segment. |
