Management theorists usually avoid stating the obvious in simple comprehensible terms. Effective management boils down to things that are easily defined, even if they are difficult to practice. A good manager must understand people and how to push their buttons. He, she, or it, (assuming effective ERP) understands how to optimise processes, by randomly accessing information across the system.

Handling information is key. Organisations work best when everyone has access to information. It is impossible to predict who needs to know what when. If everyone has access, problems get solved quicker. In shareholder corporations, managers must also share information with people outside the work flow.
