The Food Corporation of India (FCI) proposes to become a grain export house. Apart from managing domestic foodgrain economy and supplying wheat and rice to public sector undertakings and private traders for exports, it will start exporting grains on its own as well.
Revealing this in an exclusive interview, FCI managing director V. K. Malhotra said the necessary spadework for undertaking wheat and rice exports directly under the FCI banner was already being done.
