February futures edge up

Volumes in the derivatives segment were up slightly and on the NSE the futures and options segment recorded a turnover of Rs 11,669 crore with a total of 3.10 lakh contracts being traded.
 
The total outstanding open interest was over 41 crore shares. Index futures registered a turnover of Rs 3,225.60 crore with open interest at 1.2 crore shares while the turnover in stock futures was Rs 6,954.50 crore with open interest at 31.70 crore shares.
 
The Nifty February futures closed at 2,086.30, a premium of nearly seven points to the spot Nifty closing of 2,079.45 at the end of the day. In the futures segment, the most active contracts were those of Tisco, SBI, NTPC and Tata Motors. among others.
 
The marketwide put-call ratio was up slightly to 0.20, while the Nifty put-call ratio was 0.90 at the end of the day's trading.
 
Open interest went up in the futures of HDFC Bank, GAIL, Tata Power, Syndicate Bank and BPCL while futures of Bank of Baroda, HPCL and Infosys saw their open interest reducing.
 
The cumulative FII positions as percentage of total gross market position in the derivative segment as on February 2 was 30.46 per cent.
