The Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank Ltd (NDCCB) on Thursday admitted that it had been taken for a ride and filed charges of cheating against five brokerages located at Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata with the local police here.
The chairman of the bank and a prominent leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra, Sunil Kedar, lodged the complaint with the Ganeshpeth police station here stating that the bank had not received physical delivery of government securities worth Rs 125.60 crore.
The police slapped offences under sections 406, 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code against the brokering firms. The complaint names Home Trade, Vashi, New Mumbai; Indramani Merchants Pvt Ltd, Pretoria Street, Kolkata; Century Dealers Pvt Ltd, Clem Road, Kolkata; Syndicate Management Services Pvt Ltd, C G Road, Ahmedabad; and Giltedge Management Services, Vile Parle, Mumbai, as the five firms which
