The Sensex opened firm with a 24 points gain at 6,405. Strong early buying in old and new economy stocks saw the index spurt to an early high of 6,467. It is now up 63 points at 6,444, while the Nifty has added 26 points to 2,020.ONGC has added 1.16% (Rs 10) to Rs 869, and Reliance is up 1.14% (Rs 6) at Rs 549. While ITC has jumped 2% (Rs 26) to Rs 1,307, HLL is up a rupee at Rs 132.Infosys has logged 1.18% gains (Rs 26) to Rs 2,195. While Wipro has advanced 2.51% (Rs 16) to Rs 646, Satyam has gained 1.88% (Rs 7) to Rs 404.SBI is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 665. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are up over a per cent each at Rs 539 adn Rs 388, respectively.HPCL has gained 3.66% (Rs 11) to Rs 314.Ranbaxy (up Rs 7 to Rs 1,031), Dr. Reddy's (up Rs 6 to Rs 752) and Cipla (up Rs 5 to Rs 256) have commenced with decent gains.Hindalco has scaled up 2% (Rs 27) to Rs 1,310.
