The markets registered their ninth successive weekly gains. And the Smart Portfolios has lived up to its reputation of outsmarting the markets yet again. On a week-on-week basis, Vinay Khattar has provided the highest returns of 3.41 per cent, while Amar Ambani has given 2.87 per cent, Ajay Parmar has provided 2.78 per cent and Phani Sekhar has added 2.42 per cent. These were much ahead the Smart Portfolios benchmark S&P CNX 500 index, which rose 1.5 per cent in the last week.

Ajay Parmar and Amar Ambani continue to outperform the benchmark. They have reported gains in excess of 35 per cent each till date, while Vinay Khattar’s portfolio value has appreciated by 18.4 per cent and Phani Sekhar has reported gains of 14.10 per cent since inception. An investment of Rs 10 lakh in the benchmark S&P CNX 500 index six months back is today valued at Rs 12.87 lakh. An investment of Rs 10 lakh by Ajay Parmar is now worth Rs 13.68 lakh, while Amar Ambani's worth has risen to Rs 13.61 lakh, Phani Sekhar is valued at Rs 11.41 lakh and Vinay Khattar has touched Rs 11.84 lakh.

STEELY PERFORMANCE

Metal stocks have gone a long way in Parmar's portfolio. Sesa Goa has given the highest returns of 28.24 per cent, JSW Steel has seen an appreciation of 20.68 per cent and Sintex has delivered 20.33 per cent. On the other hand, Deccan Chronicle was down 6.78 per cent, Blue Star lost 2.48 per cent and Lakshmi Machine Works shed 1.54 per cent compared to Parmar’s cost price. Parmar executed 31 stock transactions during the week, out of which 14 were on the buy side and 17 were sell trades. Godawari Power, McNally Bharat, Blue Star, Lakshmi Machine Works and Panacea Biotech constitute the top holdings in Parmar's portfolio. At the end of the week, Parmar had investments worth Rs 12.88 lakh and cash amounting to Rs 80,000.

Vinay Khattar had a hyper-active week, wherein he executed 38 trades with 17 buy orders and 21 trades on the sell side. Techno Electric is the top holding of Vinay Khattar, followed by McNally Bharat, Havells India, Aries Agro and Adhunik Metal. Among the stock holdings in Khattar's portfolio, McNally has given returns of 33.64 per cent, while Havells India delivered 15.21 per cent and Techno Electric is up by 12.60 per cent. LESSER THE BETTER

Sekhar has not executed any trades this week. His existing portfolio has provided returns of 2.4 per cent during the period. His total investments are valued at Rs 10.77 lakh, while his cash balance stood at Rs 63,000. eClerx occupies the pride of place in Sekhar's portfolio. The IT company has provided returns of 48.18 per cent. Among other top performers, Esab India has delivered 31.31 per cent and Axis Bank has added 31.30 per cent. On the other hand, Reliance Infra is down by 6.89 per cent and Bharti Airtel has shed 5.77 per cent compared to Sekhar’s purchase price.
