It’s been another down week - the second in a row - for our markets, and this time around all our fund managers have seen a net decline in their net worth. However, the silver lining always remains and our fund managers continue to beat the benchmark. While the benchmark, BSE 200 index shed 6.3 per cent last week, our fund managers net worth declined in a range of 0.5 per cent to 2.5 per cent, each.

Furthermore, all our fund manager's continue to easily beat the benchmark, which is now down over 41 per cent since the start of Smart Portfolios on September 1. The biggest loss is that of Kashyap Pujara - down 21.6 per cent, on the other hand, Amar Ambani has net positive return of a meagre 0.34 per cent.

It was an extremely subdued week - in terms of trading activity - as there were just 20 odd trades, including one each from Kashyap Pujara and Sadanand Shetty. Anand Agarwal did the most number of trades - 11 of which nine were on the buy side. Amar Ambani once again offloaded all his holdings and is 100 per cent in cash. Interestingly he sold all his stocks on Friday when the market had bounced back.

Summary: At the end of the week, it seems like fund managers are looking in different directions - while Kashyap Pujara is betting on financials, Anand Agarwal is banking on large-caps, Sadanand Shetty decides to remain put and Amar Ambani has cashed out.

EMPLOYING CASH

Anand Agarwal
Vice President

Anand Agarwal with 11 trades was the most active fund manager last week, more importantly out of the 11 trades nine were on the buy side, which suggested that he did some value buying at lower levels.
