 The October contract of Nifty futures gained by 35.02 points, or 2.42 per cent, to close at 1,482.25, while the Nifty lost 1.05 points to end at 1477.85. Open interest in this series fell by 78,200 shares, or 1.56 per cent.

 The November series of Nifty futures surged by 34.55 points, or 2.39 per cent, to settle at 1,482.75. Open interest increased by 8,200 shares, or 10.25 per cent.

 In index options, the top traded contract was the Nifty October Call at a strike price of 1,500. The other top traded calls were at strikes of 1,470, 1,440 and 1,490. Put options of Nifty at strikes of 1,440 and 1,470 were in demand.
