Global rubber meet in 2005

All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA) will celebrate its diamond jubilee at Kolkata in December 2005 by hosting the India Rubber Expo - 2007, Asia's largest exhibition and seminar, AIRIA president, S K Sarkar said.

The industry has more than 6,000 units in its fold and member firms have reported excellent export growth, Sarkar added in a release. AIRIA is setting up a rubber industrial park in Howrah district where more than 250 units have signed up already.

The government of West Bengal has identified 500 bighas, of which 112 bighas have already been purchased. Units there will be entitled to exemption of 50 per cent on stamp duty and registration fees.
