Gold extended gain for the second straight day by rising 0.22 per cent on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) today on sustained buying by speculators amid firming trend in the Asian region.
At 1330 hrs, gold for the most-active October-month contract gained 0.22 per cent to Rs 14,647 per ten gram with an open interest of 1,297 lots. It had gained 0.21 per cent in yesterday's trading.
Similarly, Gold for delivery in August-month contract added 0.21 per cent to Rs 14,644 per ten gram with an open interest of 14,129 lots.
Marketmen said sustained buying by speculators in the wake of firm trend in the Asian region mainly led to recovery in gold prices at the futures market here.
Meanwhile, gold prices traded higher in Asian region at $932.00 an ounce against last close of $927.00.
