Gold futures rose by Rs 71 to Rs 16,761 per ten gram in futures trading today as speculators indulged in enlarging their positions following the start of Navratra festival, amid firming global trend.
Gold for delivery in August rose by Rs 71, or 0.43 per cent to Rs 16,761 per ten grams at the Multi Commodity Exchange with an open interest of 436 lots.
April gold also moved up by Rs 55, or 0.33 per cent to Rs 16,593 per ten gram in 16,344 lots.
Fresh rise in gold prices attributed to fresh buying activity in view of Navratra and reports of firming trend in overseas market.
Meanwhile, gold rose by $7.30 to $1108.80 an ounce in New York last evening.
