Tracking a firming global trend, gold prices rose by Rs 71 to Rs 27,918 per ten grams in futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the April gold rose by Rs 71, or 0.25%, to Rs 27,918 per ten grams in business turnover of 3,189 lots.

The June contract moved up by Rs 64, or 0.23%, to Rs 28,288 per ten grams in 76 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in gold prices to a firming global trend and rising demand in the domestic markets for the ensuing marriage season.

Meanwhile, gold advanced 0.3% to 1,678.82 dollar an ounce Singapore trade.
