Tracking a firming global trend, gold prices rose by Rs 141 to Rs 25,814 per 10 grams in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, October gold rose by Rs 141, or 0.55% to Rs 25,814 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 6931 lots. The December contract moved up by Rs 136, or 0.52% to Rs 26,091 per 10 grams in 2,406 lots.
Market analysts said besides fresh buying by speculators to meet the ongoing 'Navratri' festival demand amid a firm trend in Asian region mainly pushed up gold prices in the futures trade.
Meanwhile, gold gained 0.8% to $1,621.15 an ounce in Singapore.
