One of Asia's biggest jewellery marts, Gold Souk, will soon come up in Jaipur. The mart will have the facility where jewelleries from across the world can be sold under one roof.

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has handed over 10, 000 square metres to Aerens Gold Souk International near Jawahar Circle at the rate of Rs 25,000 per square metre to construct the mart.

Work, slated to start this September, is likely to be completed in two years.

Souk in Arabic means bazaar. And this gold mart will be the fifth in India, after Gurgaon, Kolkata, Ludhiana, and Kochi. The chairman and managing director of Aerens Gold Souk said the mart would cover 250,000 sq feet. The souk would house showrooms of gems and jewellery made of gold, diamond and platinum.

"It is our endeavour to provide a new experience in jewellery shopping. The mall will offer facilities and services such as valet parking for more than 600 cars, a food court, a bank, an ATM, currency exchange counters, a children's play area, a florist, a beauty salon, a business centre, conference rooms, a executive lounge, a designer's gallery, a fashion resource library, and an exhibition area. The souk will be equipped with a modern security system.

The designer shops at the souk will offer traditional and contemporary jewellery designs, from branded jewellery to specialised jewellery like Kundan and Meenakari from Jaipur.
