The groundnut oil sector has come to a standstill in Gujarat. Millers have shut shops since Monday bringing business at a halt. Most mills remained on Wednesday while a few which opened in the morning did brisk business. The product auction has been put off for an unknown period by millers and traders.

In last five days, prices have increased by about Rs 100 per 16-kg tin. Retailers and consumers across the state and country are in a fix. On Wednesday prices rose to Rs 910 for a 16-kg tin of groundnut oil.
