The wholesale gur (jaggery) prices fell down by Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today, following heavy arrivals amid reduced offtake.
Marketmen said heavy supply of new gur into the market amid slackness in demand, mainly pulled down gur prices.
Muzzafarnagar and Muradnagar gur market also showed a subdued trend due to lack of buying support.
In Delhi, gur chakku prices tumbled from Rs 3,000-3,050 to finish at Rs 2,800-2,850 per quintal.
Gur pedi and shakkar prices also pegged lower at Rs 2,750-2,800 and Rs 2,900-3,000 instead of Rs 2,900-3,000 and Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal, respectively.
At Muzzafarnagar, gur chakku and khurpa slided to settle at Rs 2,450-2,600 and Rs 2,300-2,375 from Rs 2,600-2,700 and Rs 2,500-2,600 per quintal, respectively.
Turning to Muradnagar, gur pedi and dhayya quoted lower at Rs 2,650-2,700 and Rs 2,700-2,750 compared from last close of Rs 2,750-2,800 each per quintal.
